Professional Experience
David Loy is a partner in the Ventura County office of the Beach Law Group, LLP and supervising attorney in the firm’s Sacramento office. He represents long-term care providers, healthcare professionals, senior housing facilities, and various business entities in all facets of civil litigation, arbitration, and mediation in healthcare and general liability matters.
Mr. Loy’s Long-Term Care & Elder Law practice includes the representation and defense of skilled nursing facilities, residential care facilities, assisted living facilities, continuing care retirement communities, home health agencies, management companies, hospice providers, and other healthcare providers, in actions involving claims of elder and dependent adult abuse, negligence, fraud, and wrongful business practices. He is also experienced in representing healthcare practitioners and long-term care entities in regulatory proceedings, administrative law proceedings and appeals, and civil trials against the Department of Health, Department of Social Services, and other state agencies.
Mr. Loy’s general liability practice includes property and personal injury claims, for both business and individuals in the litigation of catastrophic injury, sexual abuse, wrongful death, and complex litigation issues. He defends businesses and public entities in a wide variety of premises liability actions, including claims for slip/trip-and-fall, criminal conduct of third parties on the premises, and negligent supervision. He regularly defends drug and alcohol treatment centers in claims involving suicide, overdose, and other catastrophic injuries.
Education
Mr. Loy received a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2002) and his Juris Doctorate from the California Western School of Law (2006).
Community and Professional Affiliations
Mr. Loy is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, and Ventura County Bar Association.
He was an Americorps VISTA, a volunteer with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, a certified student attorney with the California Innocence Project, and is a current volunteer with CASA of Ventura County.
Personal
Mr. Loy lives with his family in Ojai. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors and listening to Audible.
